1. About This Policy

1.1 This Cookie Policy explains what cookies and similar technologies we use on our website at rgasalford.co.uk, what they do, how long they last, and how you can manage your preferences.

1.2 This policy should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which sets out how we handle personal data more generally. Both are available on our policies page.

1.3 If you have any questions about this policy or how we use cookies, please contact us at info@rgasalford.co.uk.

2. What Cookies Are

2.1 A cookie is a small text file that a website places on your device when you visit it. Cookies allow a website to recognise your device on return visits, remember your preferences, and collect information about how the site is used.

2.2 We also use similar technologies on our website, including local storage and tracking pixels. For simplicity, we refer to all of these as “cookies” throughout this policy.

2.3 Cookies can be set by us directly, in which case they are known as first-party cookies. They can also be set by third-party services we use, such as Google Analytics or Meta. These are known as third-party cookies.

2.4 Cookies can also be classified by how long they last. Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them.

3. How We Use Cookies

3.1 We use cookies on our website for the following purposes:

  1. To keep our website secure and protect it from automated abuse
  2. To remember your cookie consent preferences
  3. To understand how visitors use our website so we can improve it
  4. To measure the performance of our advertising and show relevant ads to people who may be interested in our academy

3.2 Some cookies are essential for our website to work properly. These are placed automatically and do not require your consent. All other cookies are only placed with your prior consent through our cookie banner.

4. Your Consent

4.1 When you first visit our website, you will see a cookie banner asking for your consent to non-essential cookies. We use a tool called CookieYes to manage this.

4.2 You can choose to accept all cookies, reject all non-essential cookies, or customise your preferences by category. Until you make a choice, only strictly necessary cookies will be placed on your device.

4.3 We also use Google Consent Mode, which means that even if non-essential cookies have not been consented to, certain Google services may still receive anonymous, aggregated signals about website activity. No personal data or identifiers are shared in this case.

4.4 You can change or withdraw your consent at any time using the cookie settings link in our website footer. Withdrawing consent will not affect anything done lawfully before you withdrew it.

5. Cookies We Use

5.1 The tables below set out the cookies and similar technologies that may be placed on your device when you visit our website. Cookie names, durations, and exact behaviour can occasionally change when third-party providers update their services. We review this policy regularly, but if you spot a difference between what is set out here and what your browser shows, please contact us at info@rgasalford.co.uk.

5.5 Other Tracking Technologies

In addition to cookies, our website uses the following technologies, which only operate after consent has been given:

  1. Meta Pixel. A small piece of code from Meta that records page views and key actions, such as enquiries and trial bookings, so we can measure ad performance.
  2. Microsoft Clarity session recordings and heatmaps. Records how visitors interact with our website, such as where they click and how far they scroll, so we can improve the experience. Recordings are anonymised by Clarity.
  3. Google Tag Manager. A tool we use to manage the analytics and marketing tags listed above. Google Tag Manager itself does not set tracking cookies, but it controls when other tags fire based on your consent choices.

6. Third-Party Cookies and International Transfers

6.1 Some of the cookies listed above are set by third parties such as Google, Microsoft, Meta, and Cloudflare. These providers may store and process the data they collect outside the UK, including in the United States.

6.2 Where this happens, we rely on the safeguards put in place by these providers, including standard contractual clauses approved under UK data protection law and, where applicable, the UK extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

6.3 Each of these providers has its own privacy and cookie policies, which you can read on their websites:

  1. Google: policies.google.com/privacy
  2. Microsoft: privacy.microsoft.com
  3. Meta: facebook.com/privacy/policy
  4. Cloudflare: cloudflare.com/privacypolicy
  5. CookieYes: cookieyes.com/privacy-policy

7. How to Manage Cookies

7.1 You can manage cookies in several ways:

  1. Through our cookie banner. When you first visit our website, you can accept all, reject all non-essential, or customise your preferences. You can change your choices at any time using the cookie settings link in our website footer.
  2. Through your browser settings. Most browsers let you view, delete, and block cookies. The exact steps depend on which browser you use. Help pages for the most common browsers are linked below.
  3. Through opt-out tools provided by third parties. Some advertising networks let you opt out directly. Useful resources include youronlinechoices.com for general advertising preferences.

7.2 Please note that blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of our website working properly, including the cookie banner itself.

8. Do Not Track

8.1 Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” setting. There is currently no agreed standard for how websites should respond to this signal, so we do not act on it directly. Our cookie banner gives you a clear and reliable way to control cookies on our website regardless of your browser settings.

9. Changes to This Policy

9.1 We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time, for example if we add or remove a tool that uses cookies. When we do, we will update the version number and effective date at the top of this page.

9.2 If we make a significant change, we will let you know by re-prompting our cookie banner or by placing a notice on our website.

10. Contact Us

10.1 If you have any questions about this Cookie Policy, or about how we use cookies, please contact us at info@rgasalford.co.uk.

10.2 If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). Details of how to do this are set out in section 15 of our Privacy Policy.
