1. About These Terms

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) set out the rules for using our website and for taking part in any of our sessions or activities. They apply whether you are visiting our website, attending a trial session, or training as a member.

Please read them carefully. By visiting our website or attending any session with us, you agree to these Terms.

If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must read and agree to these Terms on your behalf before you take part in anything.

These Terms do not cover membership payments, cancellations, freezes, or billing. Those are set out in our separate Membership Terms, which you will be asked to sign when you join.

2. Where We Operate

We run sessions at the following location:

  • Roger Gracie Academy Salford, Linnyshaw Mill, 260 Manchester Road, Walkden, M28 3TR

We may add, change, or close venues from time to time. Where we can, we will give you reasonable advance notice of any changes.

3. Who Can Train With Us

Our sessions are open to anyone aged 3 and over.

We welcome younger participants in sessions where we have confirmed that the session is suitable for their age group. Anyone under 18 must have a parent or guardian who has read and agreed to these Terms on their behalf, and who has completed any additional consent forms we ask for before training begins. The parent or guardian is the contracting party on behalf of the young person.

We reserve the right to refuse entry or participation to anyone who, in our reasonable judgement, does not meet our eligibility requirements or poses a risk to themselves or to others.

4. Health and Medical Conditions

Martial arts training is physically demanding. Before taking part in any session, it is your responsibility to make sure you are fit and healthy enough to train safely.

If you have any medical condition, injury, disability, or health concern that could affect your training, you must tell us before your first session. We may ask you to provide a letter from your doctor before you begin.

By attending a session, you are confirming that you are not aware of any medical reason why you should not take part. If your health changes at any point while you are training with us, it is your responsibility to let us know.

5. Trial and Introductory Sessions

We may offer trial or introductory sessions for people who are new to our academy. These sessions let you try our training before committing to a membership.

Before taking part in any trial or introductory session, you must complete and sign a Liability Waiver. You will not be permitted onto the mat until this is done. The waiver explains the physical risks involved in martial arts training and confirms that you understand and accept them.

All of the same rules around health, conduct, and safety that apply to members also apply to trial participants.

Attending a trial or introductory session does not create a membership or any ongoing commitment on either side.

6. Physical Risk and Liability

Martial arts training carries an inherent risk of injury. This is true even when sessions are run safely and supervised properly. Physical contact, falling, and the application of controlled force are a normal part of training.

By attending any session with us, you acknowledge that injuries can occur during training, that you are taking part voluntarily, and that you accept the physical risks involved.

Nothing in these Terms removes any right you have under the law. We do not limit or exclude our liability for:

  1. death or personal injury caused by our negligence;
  2. fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
  3. any other matter where the law does not allow us to limit or exclude liability.

Subject to the above, and to the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for injuries sustained during training where we have not been negligent, for loss of or damage to personal belongings brought onto our premises, or for any indirect or consequential losses.

7. Behaviour on Our Premises

We expect everyone who trains with us — members, trial participants, and visitors — to treat other students, coaches, and staff with respect at all times. This applies on our premises and at any event we organise, including competitions and seminars.

Our Code of Conduct sets out our expectations in full. All participants are expected to read it and follow it.

The head coach and academy management have the right to ask any person to leave a session or the premises at any time if their behaviour is considered unacceptable. Where the situation requires it, this can happen without a prior warning.

8. Suspension and Removal From the Academy

We reserve the right to suspend or permanently remove any person from our academy at our discretion. Situations where this may happen include, but are not limited to, cases where a person:

  1. acts in a way that puts others at risk of harm;
  2. behaves in a threatening, abusive, or discriminatory way;
  3. repeatedly breaches our Code of Conduct;
  4. brings the academy into disrepute.

Where a member is removed, any refund or billing matters will be handled in line with our Membership Terms and our obligations under consumer law.

9. Children and Safeguarding

The safety and wellbeing of children at our academy is a priority. We operate under a Safeguarding Policy, which all coaches and staff are required to follow.

If you have a concern about the welfare of a child at our academy, please contact us immediately at info@rgasalford.co.uk or speak to our Designated Safeguarding Lead, Mike Dorrian (Academy Owner).

10. Photography, Video, and Media

We may take photographs or video footage at our academy for use in our marketing and communications. Where we do this, we will operate under a separate Media Consent Policy that sets out exactly how this is managed.

You must not photograph, film, or record other participants at our academy without their clear and explicit consent.

11. Intellectual Property

All content on our website, including text, images, logos, and training materials, belongs to Roll Stars JJ Ltd or is used by us with permission. You may not copy, reproduce, or share our content without our written permission.

Our academy is affiliated with Roger Gracie Academy. Their branding and materials remain their intellectual property and are used by us under affiliation or licence.

12. Our Website

We do our best to keep our website accurate and up to date, but we cannot guarantee that everything on it is complete or error-free at all times. Session timetables, prices, and session details may change. Please contact us directly to confirm any details before making a decision based on what you read on our website.

Our website may include links to third-party websites. We have no control over those sites and are not responsible for their content.

13. Your Privacy and Personal Data

We take your privacy seriously. The way we collect, store, and use your personal data is explained in our Privacy Policy. The way we use cookies on our website is explained in our Cookie Policy.

By using our website or attending our sessions, you confirm that you have read our Privacy Policy and that you understand how we use your data.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the version number and effective date at the top of this page.

If you are an existing member and we make a change that materially affects your rights, we will give you reasonable notice before the change takes effect. If you continue to use our services after an update has been made, you are agreeing to the updated Terms.

15. Complaints

If you have a complaint, please contact us in the first instance at info@rgasalford.co.uk. We will do our best to respond promptly and resolve the matter fairly.

If we are unable to resolve your complaint directly, you may be able to seek further help through your local Trading Standards office or through the courts. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected by anything in these Terms.

16. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from them will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

17. If Part of These Terms Is Unenforceable

If any part of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable by a court, the remaining sections will continue to apply in full. The rest of the Terms are not affected.
